The Travel Corporation USA In 2010 and 2011, The Travel Corporation USA sponsors a volunteer project at the Grand Canyon National Park for teams of employees. The 2010 work day participants planted native species in a number of locations around the South Rim section of the Park as part of a project to protect and restore the area with sustainable landscaping.
American Express Retail Travel Network In October 2009, members of the American Express Retail Travel Network donned their “making a difference” t-shirts, work boots and work gloves and took part in a volunteer cleanup project at the Philadelphia Zoo, America’s oldest zoo. The project was sponsored by the South Africa Tourism Board. Volunteers helped with much-needed landscaping work at various locations around the grounds. Ellen Bettridge, Vice President of the U.S. Representative Network, American Express, said "Our members are looking for ways to help, and we're delighted that the Representative Network was able to give back through an organization like Tourism Cares that shares our belief in supporting and preserving tourism around the globe for generations to come."
Together with Tourism Cares, Vacation.com offered a Pre-Conference Restoration Event at the historic St. Louis Cemetery #1, located on the edge of the French Quarter. This cemetery is one of the most visited sites in New Orleans and needs continuing restoration and preservation work on its famous above-ground tombs. Members and suppliers worked side-by-side to “make a difference” that was visible when the workday was complete!
In 2005 at St. Louis Cemetery #1 in New Orleans, in 2006 at Alcatraz and again in 2007 at Ellis Island, Ritz-Carlton worked with Tourism Cares to bring top executives together to make a difference. |
